One of Europe’s biggest human rights organizations is reacting to the outrageous verdict issued by the Supreme Court of Romania on 14th June 2013
Human Rights Without Frontiers has been closely following for years the case in Romania against the Yoga movement. On 14th of June the Romanian Supreme Court decided to find Gregorian Bivolaru, the founder of the yoga school MISA and spiritual guide of Natha Yogacenter, guilty of sexual relations with a minor and sentenced him to 6 years in Jail.
Gregorian Bivolaru enjoys a state of political asylum in Sweden since 2005, on the grounds that the Swedish authorities believe he will not receive a fair trial in Romania.
Now, following this decision by the Romanian Supreme Court, Human Rights Without Frontiers is coming out with an official announcement questioning the legality of the decision and confirming the conclusion of the Swedish authorities that Bivolaru will not and did not get a fair trial in Romania.
Bellow is the announcement from Human Rights Without Frontiers – it presents the bizarre manner under which this trial has progressed. As you will see, for 9 years Bivolaru has been prosecuted (and now found guilty) of an alleged crime against a person who repeatedly denies it.
If you find the facts in this letter to be shocking and do not accept that in the 21st century justice will take such a form in Europe – you are welcome to send this letter to others and also to write to the European Commission asking them to take action to ensure Justice will be fair in Romania.
